DIDO AND AENEAS [TOGETHER WITH] THE TEMPEST Purcell, Henry

Copyists’ manuscript in black or dark brown ink. Opera Dido and Aeneas followed by incidental music with vocal settings, sometimes considered semi-opera, on the Dryden and D’Avenant version of Shakespeare’s The tempest. Works bound together subsequent to production. Attribution for the Tempest music questionable, the bulk possibly actually composed by John Weldon. Bound in brown 18th-century leather board.
